How long do you have to wait to put up a headstone?
It is generally recommended that you wait six months after the interment before you have a headstone erected. This is the time it may take the ground to settle. From the time you choose your headstone to the time the stone is erected can vary depending on where the cemetery is situated. The application procedures can be different in every county in Ireland. Of course a person could begin the process quite soon after the interment and then wait the required period (six months) before having the headstone erected.
